I'D BUY YOU CHATTANOOGA
(Ray Pennington)
« © '77 Tree Publishing, BMI »
Your lack of understanding our understandin's kinda sad
Sometimes I think you're purposely tryin' to drive me mad
I thought if I'd be patient with the help of time you'd change
But the only thing time's done for me is multiply the pain
I'd buy you Chattanooga to get that devil offa your back
Cant' you see that it's destroyin' you girl the load's too heavy for you to pack
You got me comin' and a goin' sometimes I don't know where I'm at
Yes I'd buy you Chattanooga girl to get that devil offa your back
[ guitar ]
If you've picked up some bad habit tell me and I'll try and understand
I know that I'd feel better if I could blame it on some other man
If you can't whip the devil get them evil thoughts out of your mind girl
I could leave you and your insane jealousy behind
I'd buy you Chattanooga to get that devil off of your back...
Yes I'd buy you Chattanooga girl to get that devil offa your back...

LEAVIN'
(Joseph P. Davis)
« © '77 Dooms Music, BMI »
Leavin' was easy for you to do
Leavin' and not sayin' why
Takin' all of my love for you
Leavin' without a goodbye
But leavin' can't mend all the hurt we've been through
Me and you've been through
A heart has to bleed that's been broken in two
And that's what your leavin' will do
Leavin' me lonesome made you feel glad
Leavin' and losin' your pride
Not even caring if I lived or died
Or if I was torn up inside
But leavin' can't mend all the hurt we've been through...

(Donna Price)
« © '77 Kenny Price Music, BMI »
A breaker breaker for that ol' Pea Hauler one time
Yeah come on you got me
I ten forgot we'll be your 20 how 'bout it
I'm bout to 1 2 0 how bout it
Yeah 10-4 we'll be truckin' in on musical city
We'll meet them smoky bears in chicken coops
Looks like up that way
She's all clean put the hammer down and come on come on come on
Well I got a rig and she's plenty big and a roll of rhythm to break
But at 55 miles an hour truckin' it's hard to make a livin' today
So I took a little cash and I mounted to the dash a little CB radio
I got my rabbit ears flapin' in the wind and I can talk to everbody I know
You shake the trees and I'll rake the leaves and we'll truck 'em down the highway
Not a smoky bear in sight put the hammer down tight
Come on come on come on let's truck together
A breaker breaker you got a southbound smokey bear so truck 'em easy boys
Well all of my buddies got a handle so we don't have to give'em our name
There's a Tennessee Streaker and Alabama Wild Man Big Wheels and Jesse James
What we're sayin' might sound like double talk but we roll the loads real fine
Get yourself a CB if you wanna truck with me and tune it to channel 1-9
You shake the trees and I'll rake the leaves and we'll truck 'em down the highway
Not a smoky bear in sight put the hammer down tight
Come on come on come on let's truck together
I'll check the seat covers buddy as they go passin' by
And I'll give a holler for you to look so you won't have to strain your eyes
That fuzz buster just gave a signal so it 's double nickels all the way
Have a safe truckin' trip and I'll see you on the flip bye bye good luck and good day
You shake the trees and I'll rake the leaves and we'll truck 'em down the highway
Not a smoky bear in sight put the hammer down tight
Come on come on come on let's truck together
Aw breaker breaker for that ol' Pea Hauler one time
Yeah come on you got'im Bubble Face
A damn Virgi we're gonna truck'em into that ol' musical city
You keep that shiny side up that greasy side down
We wanna talk atcya not about ya we wanna look atcha not upon ya
Come on Mr Bubble Face we be doin' it to it this way bye bye
Yeah good buddy ol' Peal Hauler here we're truckin'em on into that Hee Haw Show

MOTHERS WHERE ARE YOUR CHILDREN TONIGHT
(Ray Pennington)
« © '77 Sublime Music, BMI »
Light goes on in the darkness
A catchin' a young man by surprise
A tired ole watchman told the young man
Son you know what you're doin' here ain't right
A gun goes off and splits the silence
Like the loudness of a thunder's roar
Tired ole watchman is layin' face down
In his life that is a spillin' on the floor
Mothers where are your children tonight
Have you taught them wrong from right
Father you taught that young man to play
But did you teach him how to pray
Did you teach that young man to pray
When the day's are hidin' and nights are runnin'
Like some animal fightin' to be free
A mother cries out Lord that's my baby
Please don't let them take him from me
Lights go dim in some cellblock
Darkened by the takin' of a life
One more marker in some graveyard
Countless tears in a mother's eyes
Mothers where are your children tonight...
Mothers where are your children tonight...

CALIFORNIA SUNSHINE
(Ray Pennington)
« © '77 Tree Publishing, BMI »
I gave you a place to stay right here in Houston
But your mind keeps runnin' back to LA
There's so many questions that you left unanswered
I've been content just thinkin' you might stay
Now when it rains it rains a whole lot here in Houston
And I've spent some cold and lonely nights alone
You're sleepin' in my arms but you're not with me
For when you close your eyes at night I know you're gone
And you'll go walkin' in that California sunshine
You're young again and life is full of schemes
Walkin' hand in hand with your first love
Busy makin' plans and buildin' dreams
Yes you're walkin' in that California sunshine
That's a dream you've embedded in your mind
You share my bed but you're sleepin' with a mem'ry
When you go walkin' in that California sunshine
I gave you a place to stay right here in Houston...
You're still walkin' in that California sunshine...
You're still walkin' in that California sunshine...

SIDEWALK SATIN SALESMAN
(Joseph P. Davis)
« © '77 Dooms Music, BMI »
She's a sidewalk satin salesman her sales were built for sellin'
Droolin' males she'd nail'em ev'rytime she saw the twinkle in their eye
Her heart was made of gold she'd never leave you in the cold
Long as you got money for the ride
She sells her wares at the county fairs sidewalk bums to millionaires
A nickels worth of trouble buys a million bucks of fun
Curly hair and starin' eyes turns laughter into mournful cries
She never takes the blame for what she's done
She's a sidewalk satin salesman she hadn't started failin'
Pickin' up every down and outer out or downer fool that passes by
Take you for a stroll leave you lonesome low and cold
Nothin' but the thoughts of flyin' high
She sells her wares at the county fairs sidewalk bums to millionaires...
She sells her wares at the county fairs sidewalk bums to millionaires...

PICKIN' UP THE PIECES
(Roger Murrah - Timothy Lewis)
« © '77 Unichappell Music, BMI »
Like a child putting blocks together for the first time
Or building his castle in the sand
Here we are putting love together for the last time
We're picking up the pieces again
What I'd give for the all the good times and years we threw away
That's no way to let the story end
We're goin' back and gather what we've scattered to the wind
We're pickin' up the pieces again
(But this time's the last time) cause we're gonna make it
And when it gets hard and we can't take it we'll fake it
We're goin' back and gather what we've scattered to the wind
We're pickin' up the pieces (pickin' up the pieces)
We're pickin' up the pieces again

BOONE COUNTY WEIGHT WATCHERS OF AMERICA
(Donna Price)
« © '77 Kenny Price Music, BMI »
I went to a meetin' the other night on advice of some of my friends
They told me it would help me sorta change the shape I'm in
When I got there they checked my weight n they wrote it down and they grinned
They said the Boone County Chapter Weight Watchers of America invites you to come on in
I wanna say right here and now that I thought that the room would tilt
When somebody nudge and asked me if I like non-fat dry milk
Then another guy said he'd found a deal on tuna fish by the case
A gal said she'd lost two pounds and was down to 3-0-8
I joined the Boone County Chapter Weight Watchers of America
And I found a lotta weight still a hangin' around
I know that I'm not alone in this world of instant blubber
You can't afford to buy me by the pound
A lotta of my friends have told me that my figure was a trimmin' down
And I no longer look like the round mound of sound
I guess with time and sacrifice the DJ's all will say
He's the skinnest guy in the whole USA
I've joined the Boone County Chapter Weight Watchers of America
And I've thrown away all my baggy overalls
I've given up my title as the heavy weight eatin' champion
I'm just skinny Kenny on the Hee Haw Show this fall yee haw
Ha ha ha the heavy weight
Yeah I got them calorie counts all over the place
We countin'em boys
What was it you said
Three thousand calories
Lord that's what I have to eat a week

JESTER
(Donna Price)
« © '77 Kenny Price Music, BMI »
The Queen has placed a sword upon her shining Knight
I dropped my shield and he won her hand without a fight
And she laughed at me when I did funny things
But I can't laugh while standing in the pain
Tell me what's the next lines gonna be
I'm supposed to make 'em laugh oh the funny man is me
Do a handspring a backward flip ah don't lose my cool
The jester's gotta show he's just a fool
Queenie and the Knight have run away to make their plight
And I'm the clown that's left to play the last act tonight
I could dance around and fake a smile no one would really know
She's got rings on her fingers and I've got bells on my toes
(Jester he's such a funny man)

MORTAR MIXING MAMA
(Joseph P. Davis)
« © '77 Dooms Music, BMI »
7:30 workin' man a hard hat sunburn calloused hand
Livin' for the weekend when he'll down that case of beer
His pickup truck is his limousine a torn T-shirt and faded jeans
He knows that the pick and shovel's not his friend
He's a mortar mixin' mama and he's always been around
A puttin' up a buildin' where they tore the buildin' down
He'll only get higher when he climbs that scaffold wall
Lord don't let him fall
You gotta fix that roof before it rains But his daily routine will never change
Gonna stop and smoke that cigarette and tell a joke or two
Ev'ry day's a girlie show as he watches'em come and he watches'em go
But he never gets a chance to turn one down
Cause he's a mortar mixin' mama and he's always been around...
7:30 workin' man the main spring in the blue print plan
Buildin' pretty buildins' for that starched white collar dude
He takes pride in what he's done the next time he'll build a better one
But it's 4 o'clock and he's on his way home
He's that mortar mixin' mama and he's always been around...
