DON'T LET GO
(Jesse Stone)
« © '58 Screen Gems Music, BMI »
Hear that whistle it's ten o'clock (hold me tight and don't let go)
Come on baby it's time to rock (hold me tight and don't let go)
I'm so happy I got you here (hold me tight and don't let go)
Keeps me grinnin' for ear to ear (hold me tight and don't let go)
Oowee this feelin's killin' me
Aw shucks I wouldn't stop for a million bucks
I love you so
Just hold me tight and don't let go
Thunder lightning wind and rain (don't let go don't let go)
Love is stormin' inside my brain (don't let go don't let go)
I'm so eager I'm nearly dyin' (don't let go don't let go)
You've been keepin' your lips from mine (don't let go don't let go)
Oowee this feelin's killin' me...
Hound dog barkin' up side the hill (don't let go don't let go)
Love is draggin' him through the mill (don't let go don't let go)
If it wasn't for havin' you (don't let go don't let go)
I'd be barkin' and a howlin' too (don't let go don't let go)
Oowee this feelin's killin' me...
One day baby you'll get me yet (don't let go don't let go)
I'll be cryin' and soakin' wet (don't let go don't let go)
One thing baby I'll never stand (don't let go don't let go)
Your lips kissin' some other man (don't let go don't let go)
Oowee this feelin's killin' me...

GOING BACK TO MY BABY TOMORROW
(Marge Barton - Fred McRae)
« © '67 Mimosa Publishing, BMI »
I'm going back to my baby tomorrow
Can hardly wait till I walk through the door
Won't have to live with this misery and sorrow
Won't have to live with the blues anymore
I'm going back to the arms that are waiting
If I walk every step of the way
I'll take what's left of a hard time of breaking
I'm going back back to my baby to stay
It was such a mistake ever leaving
I didn't know love was so hard to find
I was such such a fool for believeing
There was a better love than what I left behind
I'm going back to my baby tomorrow
Can hardly wait till I walk through the door
Won't have to live with this misery and sorrow
Won't have to live with the blues anymore
Won't have to live with the blues anymore

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE
(Paul Evans - Paul Parnes)
« © '67 De Shufflin Inc, ASCAP / Port Music, ASCAP »
(Too good to be true too good to be true)
Your kiss could cure the sickest man
And you would cure the whole world if you could
And everybody wants to love you
Cause they heard that lovin' you's so good
It was me who taught you how to love
And how to kiss I taught it all to you
I was all you wanted when you didn't know a thing
But now you're too good to be true
(Too good to be true too good to be true)
Once not long ago you couldn't thrill me
With your kiss but you were mine
You practiced up but now you're so good
That you want new lovin' all the time
It was me who taught you...
You studied hard at lovin'
And now you know much more than I ever knew
So I'll go out and find someone
To teach me how to be as good as you
It was me who taught you...
(Too good to be true too good to be true)

LETTER TO DADDY
(Bobby Braddock - Sue Braddock)
« © '67 Tree Publishing, BMI »
They brought me a letter from my little girl
My sweet little baby with long golden curls
The address was printed with crayon of red
A letter to daddy and here's what it said
Hi daddy how are you I guess I'm okay except this bad cold
But I feel like a big girl now cause yesterday I was seven years old
And that little puppy dog you sent me why he's just as cutest as he can be
But daddy it wasn't just like a birthday why couldn't you have been here with me
Daddy I don't understand what happened in court that day
I ask mommy where you are and she just says daddy's gone away
Is it something that I did wrong daddy you never did fuss at me
But if you'll come home I'll climb upon your lap every night
And I'll be just as sweet as I can be
Daddy each night I ask God to make you keep loving me the way you used to
Oh daddy if I'd give mommy this letter I know she won't mail it to you
So I'm gonna look all over this city until I find you
Then maybe you'll see just how much we need you daddy mommy and me
And I love you daddy
They told me how she started walking downtown
There at the crossroads the car's struck her down
She lay in the ditch all covered with sand
A letter to daddy was clutched in her hand

PARTY GIRL
(Perry Buie - Bill Gilmore)
« © '67 Unart Catalog, BMI »
Dance your last dance party girl
Party girl have yourself a time party girl
Cause when this party's through I've got plans for you
So dance your last dance party girl
I realized there's fifty guys that you've got on the string
But I'm gonna change all that when I show you this diamond ring
You'll forget that swinging band when you'll hear those cowboys sing
You're gonna trade your dancin' shoes for apron strings and things
So dance your last dance party girl...
Party girl you laugh and say that love is just a game
But like they say in storybooks tigers can't be tame
Won't you be surprised when you take a second look
Instead of the bosa nova you'll be learnin' how to cook
So dance your last dance party girl...
So just dance your last dance party girl mhm

GUNFIGHTER
(Billy Ed Wheeler - Jerry Leiber - Mike Stoller)
« © '67 Jerry Leiber Music, ASCAP »
(Gunfighter) Marta woke me up that night and she began to cry
She tried to tell me once before about another guy
She held a letter in her hand her body shook with fear
The man she left so long ago at last was riding here
Next day the dark eyed stranger came and called me to the yard
I'd picked up my rusty gun my blood was pounding hard
He said it let me ride away if I give up my wife
But if I chose to stay in draw it have to take my life
Gunfighter who is wrong or right
The man who fights to love or the man who loves to fight
I didn't want to fight the man and I didn't want to run
But slowly he began to count and I went for my gun
Then out of whip his hand lashed out so quick I couldn't see
Before I even touched my gun his bullet burdened me
I felt my strenght go leaking out my eyelids turned to red
I watched him aimed the second shot directly at my head
Just then I heard my Marta say gunfigter turn around
She raised my shotgun to her whip and blew him off to ground
Gunfighter who is wrong or right...
Gunfighter who is wrong or right...

LOVE OF THE COMMON PEOPLE
(Ronnie Wilkins - John Hurley)
« © '67 Tree Publishing, BMI »
Living on free food tickets water in the milk from the hole in the roof
Where the rain comes through what can you do hmm
Tears from little sister crying cause she doesn't have a dress without a patch
For the party to go oh but you know she'll get by
Because she's living in the love of the common people
Smiles from the heart of the family man
Daddy's gonna buy you a dream to cling to
Mama's gonna love you just as much as she can and she can
It's a good thing you don't have a bus fare
Or it would fall through the hole in your pocket
And you'd lose it on the snow on the ground you walk into town to find a job
You're trying to keep your hands warm
But the hole in your shoe let the snow come through
And it chills you to the bone boy you'd better go home where it's warm
Where you can live on the love of the common people...
Living on dreams ain't easy
But the closer the fit the tighter the knit and the chills stay away
You take 'em in stride family pride
You know that faith is your foundation but with a whole lotta love
And a warm conversation of course there's a prayer
Making you strong where you belong
Where you can live on the love of the common people...
Live on the love of the common people...

UNDERSTAND LITTLE MAN
(Nat Stuckey)
« © '67 Tree Publishing, BMI »
Well if you're thinkin' that maybe you can steal my baby
Let me give you some advice just free
You better not start to roamin' round my pretty woman
Unless you wanna tangle with me
By way you're a lookin' I can tell you're cookin' up somethin's gonna get you hurt
And that cash you're flashin' gonna buy you trouble
I'm gonna see you get your money's worth
Little man understand she's mine
[ guitar ]
You better not take chances with anymore glances
Get the leavin' while the leavin's good
I got enough of contranotion that I'd change your notion
Leave 'em up brother where you stood
Now I don't mean maybe you keep foolin' with my baby
I'm gonna see you if I can stretch your neck
And when you need a friend instead of askin' how you been
He's gonna ask you where you had your wreck
Little man understand she's mine
[ guitar ]

HALLELUJAH I LOVE HER SO
(Ray Charles)
« © '56 Unichappell Music, BMI »
Let me tell you bout a girl I know she's my baby and she lives next door
Every morning fore the sun comes up she brings my coffee in my favorite cup
That's why I know yes I know hallelujah I just love her so
When I'm in trouble and I have no friends I know she'll go with me untill the end
Everybody asks me how I know I smile at them and say she told me so
That's why I know yes I know hallelujah I just love her so
Now if I call her on the telephone and tell her that I'm all alone
By the time I count from one to four I hear her (knock) on my door
In the evening when the sun goes down when there is nobody else around
She kisses me and she holds me tight and tells me daddy everything's all right
That's why I know yes I know hallelujah I just love her so
Now if I call her on the telephone and tell her that I'm all alone...
(Hallelujah I just love her so) once more (hallelujah I just love her so)

I WON'T GO TOO FAR
(Larry Kingston)
« © '67 Careers Music, BMI »
When was the last time he kissed you and told you how pretty you are
When was the last time you let him embrace you as he whispered I won't go too far
When was the last time you told him we just can't go on like we are
But still you agree to let him keep seeing you and you still say I won't go too far
Does he feel the same when he holds you does he know how fickle you are
The minute you looked at a stranger you'd already come much too far
Now here we stand facing each other we're parting you know that we are
But if knowing where I'm at will make you feel better
I promise I won't go too far yes I promise I won't go too far

IT DOESN'T KNOW ANY BETTER
(Jimmy Kyle)
« © '67 Tree Publishing, BMI »
I should break these habits before very long like calling to see if you're home
But my hand just can't help reaching out for the phone it doesn't know any better
I've cautioned my heart not to hope anymore that you won't be around like before
Still it stops everytime there's a knock on your door it doesn't know any better
I still can't believe that you're gone though I've tried
My senses got lost in the turmoil inside
And my love keeps raging though your love has died it doesn't know any better
And my life goes on there's just one reason why it doesn't know any better

WE'RE LAUGHING AT THE WORLD
(Larry Lee - Bobby Dyson)
« © '67 Barmour Music, BMI »
I have no shoes to offer you for your pretty daidy feet
And it paints the very center of my soul to see you smile so sweet
Sing it doesn't matter you just want to be my girl
And as long as we're together we're laughing at the world
I can tell you're feeling cold cause there ain't no heat in the house
Your skirt is wearing much better I see twenty patches on your blouse
You tell me not to worry and you toss your pretty curls
As long as we're together we're laughing at the world
We're laughing at the world though it's turned us down
We're the down and outs they don't care to have around
But we still have each other and our own little social world
As long as we're together we're laughing at the world
The baby's almost here now and I know your many needs
But there's no way to harvest the crop before you plant the seeds
If life was like the oyster you'd truly be a pearl
And as long as we're together we're laughing at the world
We're laughing at the world though it's turned us down...
